  • My son had a hydrocele & inguinal hernia repair at age 4. It was an outpatient surgery with no complications and he was home that afternoon, feeling just fine & wanting to ride his big wheel (which he couldn't do per doc. orders, of course). The surgery was done laproscopically, so all he had was a tiny incision that the doc glued close. My son had the glue picked off by the next morning, but the incision had already completely healed over.

  • DS had a bilateral inguinal repair at 5 mths because it had gotten so bad they couldn't wait any longer. It was at a one day ctr. He had a difficult time waking up and unfortunately the surgery did not take on one side. He had to have the surgery again last year again at a one day center. He was advised to be on basically bed rest for several days. It felt like at least a week. Everything seems to have gone well and this time there have been no issues.
