Is breast milk considered a vegan or vegetarian food?

Hey, some people cook with it.

  • I wouldn't think it's either since it's derived from a Human, and we're considered a mammal. I could be wrong though...

  • I agree MrsLeftLane. Humans are mammals (animals) so breast milk to me isn't vegan or vegetarian. But this is going to start a huge ugly debate.

  • The concept of veganism and vegetarianism is to limit the amount of animal products consumed. Human milk is made for humans. I know plenty of vegans and veggies who BF because human milk is made for humans. Silly question.

  • I think it would matter wihat the mothers diet is. It is still the best for babyegardless and the easiest.
