Why is my hair falling out??

I gave birth almost 3 months ago. I am also nursing. Why is my hair falling out?? I remember reading something about loosing some hair after delivery due to hormones, but 3 months later?? Weird. Any moms experience this?? How long does it last? Should I treat it? Its not A LOT of hair, just enough to really notice its definitely falling out.

Yes, I am taking pre-natals.

Thanks!

  • Your hair is falling out because we are supposed to shed hair on a regular basis, but pregnancy hormones prevent the shedding. Therefore, after the baby is born you lose all the hair you were supposed to shed during the pregnancy. The hair loss slows down around 6 months PP and stops sometime between 9 and 12 months PP.

  • You can lose hair up to the first year after having baby.

  • Normal. Your nursing hormones probably let you hold on to your hair a little longer post partum. Careful in the kitchen and when making dinner plates. ;)

  • my hair continued to fall out for almost a year after i had my son. i asked my doctor about it and he said to take vitamin b pills or eat more food with vitamin b12 in it.. i took the pills and after only like a month my hair stopped falling out.

  • normal. your hair is never as thick as when youre preggo. it doent need treated unless you are going bald! just a little extra hair in the brush isnt anything to worry about.
