Could you ban TV on weekdays?

President Obama had said that his daughters only watch TV on weekends.
Would you do the same?

I haven't had a tv in my house for 12 years now, my oldest is 11. It doesn't have anything to do with what the president does. Tv is crap and not worth watching.

I can see what you are saying if it is purely for entertainment purposes... but that isn't entirely true. 90% of what we watch either comes from the Discovery channel, TLC or National Geographic...
    Deadliest Catch
    Ax Men
    Myth Busters
    Dirty Jobs
LOTS of different shows that teach you about some great subjects!!

  • Sure. My kids were not the type that ever sat in front of the TV though. They were always outside playing with friends. My youngest daughter is now on her own and doesn't even own a TV. We did lots of things together, but we never sat and watched TV. You have to keep your kids occupied and out of trouble. A TV is NOT a babysitter.

  • We haven't had any television service for over 4 years now.

We do have netfix, and DVD's.

I don't honestly miss Television itself; I thought I would, but I don't at all.

  • TV is trash. I believe parents should take the time to connect with thier kids, instead of letting em watch tv. I'm not perfect, but I think TV is brainless stuff that we could all live without. Just because Obama does it doesn't mean the rest of the country should.
Clinton had an affair....should the men look up to him? lol HELL NO lol
Parents have been doing this for A LONG TIME now...it's nothing new!

  • Very  easily.

My kids have the basic 5 channels in their home, but the Tv is generally set on SAP or on the Chinese station. This is a step up for my daughter-she was Tv free for about 6 years.

  • We choose not to have cable or the converter box so it's not an issue for us. The only time the tv is on is for a dvd. That's usually when everyone else is at work or in bed.
