Is working out giving me a thicker mid section?

I workout 4-5 times a week. I do at least 30 min. cardio with some weights. The only thing I do for my stoamach is the ab crunch machines at the gym. I use to have a very slim curvy waist & it is starting to look like I am more straight looking & wider! Why?
