Has anyone ever used the Soundex registry?

When we were adopting our DD, the agency had us register with Soundex. I'll have to double check to make sure we're on it for DS, just in case we ever lose touch with his bfamily.

Has anyone ever used this or does anyone know much about how it works?

  • Are you asking about ISRR?
    International Soundex Reunion Registry?

I registered there years ago, and have since reunited, updated my info.
In search circles, it's advised to register here first.

It's the oldest, and largest mutual consent registry around

  • I've used it to find surnames in genealogy searches but not for an adoption. It just gives alternative surnames to search that sounds like a name you might think you remember or if you are not spelling a name correctly.

  • Forgot to add, it's a passive registry. They do not conduct search for you. Both parties must register before a match is made.

  • As adopteeme said, it's the oldest registry around, but they need to have both parties registered before a match is made. It's a free service though they do accept donations.

  • yes , Registries such as these were what got my behind the times self into the Internet. Discovered registries on his 18 th birthday. I have found all of them  keep the information intact. This is a very well organized registry some are heartfelt but amateurish.
