greek pita you stuff it with something greekish? do you eat it with something greekish? also what are you best greek recipes that you have tryed?

  • I stuff them with anything I would put in a sandwich for the most part. I love stuffing them with chicken ceasar salad, or I'll make a filling like for Calzones w/ Ricotta cheese, an egg, some sauteed spinach, garlic, & a little mozarella, & mix that up well. Stuff it into the calzone, add some pepperoni, or meat sauce if you want, & bake for about 15 -20 minutes, then serve w/ marinara sauce for dipping....makes a yummy quick & easy cazlone, they also work as a pizza crust.

    As for greek, I love filling them with a some chicken schwarma, or grilled shredded chicken, lettuce, tomatoes, cucumbers, some feta cheese & a little garlic sauce. They work great for felafels, & you can even buy a mix for that though their easy to make. I put tabouleh, a salad of cucumbers, cilantro, green onions, & tomatoes & felafels in the pita, top it with a little tahini sauce. Usually, I cut them up & serve w/ babaganoush, & hummus for dipping.

  • I make chicken souvlaki gyro style and put it in the pitas with tatziki sauce served with meditereanian couscous SO GOOD!!!

  • gyros oooh so yummy. I love pita bread and greek breeds. Heck I love all bread. I really love their cucumber, mint yogurt dressing. Easy to make too. Grek is the only time I'll eat lamb. Nut I just add lots of veggies.

  • as for the chicken schwarma, would you make it like this:

    2 lbs chicken breasts
    4 tablespoons lemon juice
    1 tablespoon olive oil
    3 garlic cloves
    3 tablespoons yoghurt
    1 teaspoon tomato paste
    1 teaspoon ground cumin
    1 teaspoon ground coriander
    1/2 teaspoon pepper
    1/2-1 teaspoon salt

    2 T fresh lemon juice
    1 t curry powder
    2 t olive oil
    3/4 t salt
    1/2 t ground cumin
    3 cloves garlic, minced
    1 lb boneless chicken breasts

  • I consider myself to be a great tabouli maker. But i can't share a recipe 'cause I just throw it all together without measuring.
