Why don't hospitals report illegals?

  • I think it's funny that a parent who is suspected of child abuse is supposed to be reported, physical abuse can be reported, gunshots or injuries that may have been gotten in gang or other illegal fights have to be reported but unless involved in one of these things an obviously illegal alien can't be turned in. Rather disgusting to me. I would not refuse treatment but I say fix them up and turn them in. If we were lucky they wouldn't go to our hospitals. It would solve a lot of our problems in the healthcare realm. It would possibly trickle down and keep some of them from ever coming here.
They may be entitled to the "common courtesy" (if thats what you want to call it) of getting medical attention needed but I don't think illegals deserve the common courtesy of being "invisible" the US.

  • Because if they did, illegals wouldn't go in for care... And if illegals don't go in for care with issues like contagious illnesses or something similar, they are putting others at risk. Plus, there is a dr. patient confidentiality thing in place too... If they can't be trusted not to break it for illegals, can we trust them not to break it for the rest of us?

  • Women who are residing here illegally have the right to go to any hospital and demand prenatal care if needed.

  • Because the hospital can be sued if they report them. It's against the law.

  • So can we say that the safest place for an illegal immigrant is a Hospital?

  • Hospitals are in the business of caring for sick individuals, period. Do schools report "presumed" illegal families?

  • They they are forced by law if they receive medicaid money to treat anyone who walks through the door. Knowing good and well they are going to loose money because illegals don't have insurance and they are not going to pay the bill. Women can't go to a hospital and demand anything. They can get confirmation they are pregnant and an ultrasound IF NEEDED but, they can't get monthly prenatal care and the hospital CAN send them away unless they are in active labor.

  • Illegals can't stay indefinitely at a hospital just like a homeless person can't stay there.
