DO I HAVE TO PUT TOPSOIL OR PEATMOSS DOWN FIRST?

I had a lot of thistles and nasty weeds in my lawn, so I dug them all out. Now I have places where it looks like the martians have landed! (small holes) Do I have to put down top soil or peat moss or something before I put on my grass seed? OR can I just sprinkle the grass seed over what's already there? I want to do it right as it's a fairly large area. Thankyou for your imput or advice.

  • IF you lost a lot of top soil in the areas that you dug the weeds out ,then replace it, otherwise, just plant the seeds.
