Maybe all the illegals should just goto San Francisco?

San Francisco Mayor Gavin Newsom announced today a moratorium on official city travel to Arizona after the state enacted a controversial new immigration law that directs local police to arrest those suspected of being in the country illegally.

As San Francisco and other “sanctuary cities” declare war on Arizona over its new law cracking down on illegal immigrants, most state and local governments that provide a safe haven to undocumented workers refused to publicly roll out a welcome mat for the estimated 440,000 illegals in the Grand Canyon state.

  • Illegals are.....people. With stories, hopes, dreams, sins, problems, etc. just like you and I....just thought I"d remind you of that as you reduce them to numbers and statistics that are more comfortable to think about as you make rash decisions about what we should do about "them".

  • Yes, they are people. But they are BREAKING THE LAW. That's why they are called ILLEGAL. If they want to come to America legally, I will be one of the first people to welcome them. But until then, they should not be here, and they need to leave.

  • anon :49, that's exactly the kind of touchy-feely liberal thinking that will sink this country. We CANNOT base decisions solely on fear of hurting people's feelings, or inconveniencing them. Decisions must be made on logic and reason and for the good of the majority. These are not citizens. No one is suggesting that we round them up and shoot them. Simply that if they can't abide by the law of our nation, which offers one of the most open legal immigration policies in the world, then they need to return to their home countries. Why is that cruel? How is it inhumane? Okay, maybe it's not what they WANT, but it must be done for the sake of our nation as a whole. Why is that so hard for you to understand?

Illegals are people who can't be bothered with doing things legally.  If one can't be bothered to enter this country the LEGAL way, why should they do ANYTHING within the letter of the law?!

  • They are breaking the law, but so are you when you speed in your car. I think the first anon was trying to point out humanity, because people grouping people into nonhuman groups and categorizing them in their minds as "other" is exactly what leads to the things you say we are not doing. If everyone got all in a hot flash about them like some would have us, it wouldn't take long for us to be down that path. It hasn't happened over and over in history for no reason. This is not to say that you should feel differently about immigration law- just to say that saying illegals are NOT people with hopes, dreams, etc as you did with your little cross-out is IMO a dangerous way of thinking.
