Meatballs!

Is there another way to make meatballs if my crockpot kicked the bucket? I usually sear them in a frying pan then let them sit on low in the crockpot for a few hours in the sauce. Any ideas?

  • I've never crock-potted meatballs (and I make them a LOT) - I always bake them in the oven. Form and put in any pan that has sides (cake pan, etc, glass, metal, foil, they all work). Bake at 350. Time depends on size - 1inch balls take about 30 minutes, 2inch about 45 minutes, 3inch about an hour to an hour and 15, and so on. I always stick a fork in one that's in the middle to check.

  • I put the sauce in a pan on the stove and just let them simmer in there.

  • Do it the same way but put them in a pot on the stove with the sauce and cook for couple hours on low until cooked through ,stirring occassionally. Or you can bake them in the oven.

  • I agree with PPs. I don't have a crockpot. I put them right in the sauce, I don't sear them. I let them simmer for 1 hour.

  • I dont' have a crock pot either.

I make them then bake on a rack in the oven (so the grease sinks to the bottom of the pan) then will toss in a bowl with the sauce.
