My nipples are getting sensitive again after BFing for 7 months....

Do babies every start to suddenly suck harder and make you sore? I haven't had any problems with breastfeeding.

Anyone gotten pregnant while BFing and noticed something like this? Probably just paranoid...

  • I got pregnant at 7 months post-partum and knew because my nipples got sore and changed. I hadn't gotten a period yet. This doesn't mean you are, but you certainly could be!

  • Sometimes they can get sore from the food your baby is eating. It could be your period or pregnancy (I agree with EEEK!! and add YIKES!!!).

  • Thanks ladies.... I thought I would start my period by now, but it's still pretty close so I'm not freaking out yet. DS still isn't really eating solids, so it's not that. As for latch, besides taking more of the nipple into his mouth lately, I can't tell that anything's changed. DH and I had unprotected sex twice this month.... Oh boy....

  • My guess would either be you're pregnant or you have thrush. Take a HPT. If it's negative, then give your OB a call and ask about thrush.

  • Just wanted to add I got pregnant PP at 10 months after both my firstbaby and second baby while BFing and yes, my nipples did get more tender.

If your nipples feel itchy, if BFing burns then it's probably thrush.

  • No itching or burning or other symptoms. Doesn't thrush give the baby a white tongue? It's just when he nurses that it's sensitive. He has been biting me lately (toothless), but I don't think enough to make it hurt when he sucks. I'm not going to let myself do a pregnancy test yet..... until I'm sure my period is late! Otherwise I get all up in arms.

Is it just me, or do you get kind of psyched up about being pregnant, even when you really DON'T want to be pregnant? LOL!
