Spin off of the question...God said "let US make them in OUR image".

Ok I hear so much where Christians say God is not a sexual being and that he is not one sex or that he does not have sexual attributes of either male or female.
Then they say he does not have the same mental or urge make-up as us.
So If he is nothing like us how did he make us in his image?
This makes no sense and is a constaintly going against each other and canceling each other out.
So what does the phase make "Let us make them in our image."
mean.

  • No one here will be able to answer your question because they read literal translations of a Semitic language in which all nouns have gender indicated by their own name, a proper name or the adjectives and so on that surround it. I suggest asking someone who can read Hebrew and the most educated answer will probably come from a Jewish person.

  • Gen 1
26Then God said, "Let Us make man in Our image, according to Our likeness; and let them rule over the fish of the sea and over the birds of the sky and over the cattle and over all the earth, and over every creeping thing that creeps on the earth."
27God created man in His own image, in the image of God He created him; male and female He created them.
28God blessed them; and God said to them, "Be fruitful and multiply, and fill the earth, and subdue it; and rule over the fish of the sea and over the birds of the sky and over every living thing that moves on the earth." NASB

  • Gen 1: 26-28 God spoke: "Let us make human beings in our image, make them
    reflecting our nature
So they can be responsible for the fish in the sea,
the birds in the air, the cattle,
    And, yes, Earth itself,
and every animal that moves on the face of Earth."
    God created human beings;
    he created them godlike,
    Reflecting God's nature.
He created them male and female.
    God blessed them:
"Prosper! Reproduce! Fill Earth! Take charge!
Be responsible for fish in the sea and birds in the air,
for every living thing that moves on the face of Earth." THE MESSAGE

  • NASB is translation The Message is paraphrase of the translation bibles. It helps to read it in both formats and you get a better picture of what God is really saying!

    Yes it is.

No offence I am not weeding through a million links, and I want opinions here so I asked myself.

Shane that doesn't answer my question. In our nature. Nature would implicate a physical or mental nature. So if it's neither than we were not created in god's likeness at all.

  • This is more of a verse talking about plurality of God. It is used to support the Trinity at times. It is not used to prove God is human. He has an image of humans, and God:the Father, Son and Holy Spirit have an image of humans and made them in our image. Just as you might have an image of your dream home and built it in your image

As for God being human there are plenty of verses showing he is not a human being

  • some say that God is speaking in a forman or royal tone while others say the trinity and yet others say angels.

I don't understand how you think this verse makes God human.
