White celebrities adopting black babies from poor countries..good deed? Or another "trend"?

What do you think? If you were a birth mother, would you want your child in a celebrity household? In the Hollywood spotlight?

  • I would hope its neither a trend or a good deed. Both are terrible reasons to adopt. I would hope ANYONE who adopts does it because they want that child to join their family. Anyone who adopts and is looking for gratitude, praise or publicity is setting themselves and the child/ren up for a very hard time. Adoption should be about loving a child who needs to be loved. Nothing else.

  • i dont get why they are adopting those kids when there is plenty of children here in the US without homes.

  • If I were famous I'd adopt from outside the US to keep it a closed adoption and not be hounded by the birth mother and her family just because I was rich. Any child being adopted is a wonderful thing regardless of origin.

  • They do it to attach their name to some "plight." It's usually washed up celebrities or those "in between" jobs/gigs!

Why did Oprah open a private girls academy in Africa? Aren't there a few deserving African American girls in THIS country that could have benefited from her generosity?!

  • How many children have you adopted?

  • I hope its a good deed that others with the money can follow. I pray its not a trend.

  • Because they don't want one born addicted to crack or with FAS. I don't blame them for going overseas. It's not like there are a bunch of healthy babies around here. And if they did adopt state side you know that kids adoptive family would find out they are in a celebrity home and exploit that.
