i am thinking of getting a large protective but not mean dog...what kind do you think is best?

  • Great idea, I also want to do this once my kids are a little older (to help take care of them). I'd say do research on good WATCH/GUARD dog breeds vs some of the scarier breeds that tend to get agressive. Don't be fooled by size either, some large dog breeds are big babies and too gentle to take on the duties of a guard/watch dog.

  • my brother's got 2 bernese mountain dogs.

    BIIIIIIG dogs! very protective but gentle.

  • i would love to have a golden retriever. if i ever had a dog i would get one. they are the most well behaved, calm, loving dogs i have ever been around
