Why cant pregnant woman take aspirin

Why cant pregnant woman take aspirin or Advil? Does it cause birth defects? Just curious. I'm not pregnant so I cant just call up the doctor and ask her this silly question.

  • For the aspirin, it's a blood thinner. Actually for the first few months I've read not to take anything. I never used tylenol either, of course it doesn't work for me anyway. I was always very careful about what went into my mouth, I was paranoid about losing my first one. Long, painful story I'd rather not get into.

You could always call your pharmacy, or google it.

  • I know asprin has a form of salicylic acid in it; which yes, is known to harm an unborn baby.
