For the Christians

FOR THOSE OF YOU WHO BELEIVE IN THE BIBLE. I have a question that has always stumped me about the bible. If Adam and Eve are the first two people on the face of the earth then who did their kids have sex with to procreate the earth? It would have to be their brothers and sisters right? Doesn't this mean humans are a product of imbreeding? Really want to know!

  • Adam and Eve had many many children. Adam and Eve were in the garden for hundreds of years before man fell from grace. There is no way one book could list all the children of those in the Bible......... Adam did die that day tho because to God 1 day is as 1000 years and Adam lived to be 970. Adam and Eve were of the 8th day creation Gen 2:5-7 They were not the first though, The Bible talks about the 6th day creation of man in Gen 1:26-28, the many other races created before Adam and Eve.

  • If you read further in the bible it explains where Adam and Eve's son's found wives..

  • But many people believe that Adam and Eve were the only two and the first two, how is this inconsistency explained?

  • When I read a little Jane Austin and see how socially normal it was for people in a "civilized country" to marry their first cousins not very many generations back, I just think we probably are all products of inbreeding in generations much more recent than Adam and Eve.

Oh well, I'm not too worried.

  • There were other people besides adam and eve. That is why Cain had to be marked on his head so they wouldn't kill him.

  • Again, it is explained IN the Bible.. If people want an explination about something they have 'heard' is in the Bible, why not just go to the source, read it and find out? The answers are plainly written..
Ok, it my be confusing in the King James version.. But the NIV and the NLT Bibles are very easy to read..
So just tell these 'many people' to read it and find the answers themselves..

  • YES, Adam & Eve's children would have married each other. There is even a scripture about Cain taking his sister as his wife. There is a similar text which was not included in the bible which went in to more detail. Insect in Ancient times and before would not have been the issue it is today and in fact was fairly common. Today even it takes generations of close insestual relationships to produce malformations in offspring. But up until about 1500 years ago, it wasn't seen as the abomination it is today.
