Terror in Times Quare! A car bomb failed and investigation is underway.

Local and federal authorities worked Sunday to identify the person or group behind an "amateurish" but potentially powerful bomb planted inside a car parked in New York City's Times Square. Thoughts??

Just breaking.....The Pakistan Taliban has claimed responsiblity.

  • Interesting that the taliban claimed full responsibility... not sure if I fully believe it or not... nevertheless this tells me we are not safe no matter what homeland security does.

  • The Pakistani Taliban has claimed responsibility, but so far nobody believes they have the resources to afford the plane ticket to the US, let alone have people here waiting to blow something up. Wonder if they really had anything to do with it or they just jumped on it while they had the chance. There might be some ticked off solo nutjob out there throwing a fit because a bunch of guys in Pakistan just took credit for his lame idea.

  • Oops! That would be Times SQUARE!

NP, I find the Taliban's responsiblity questionable as well. Maybe I am giving them too much credit, but I would think the job would have been a little more professional if they did it.

  • This is what happens when your president lets it be known he is sympathetic to the "enemy" even if they use a "dirty bomb", and we are not a Christian nation. As a matter of fact, we don't claim to be religious at all. I swear, I think he has set all this crap out there so there will be an attack. It sure will solve any fear of the dems not winning in Nov. now wouldn't it? He can claim to have done all kinds of things to help with the response to an "attack". Where are the truthers? Why aren't they speaking? He has set us up big time.

  • Pakistani group claims NYC car bomb responsibility
The U.S.-based SITE intelligence group, which monitors militant websites, said the Pakistani Taliban claims the attack is revenge for the death of its leader Baitullah Mehsud & the recent killings of the top leaders of al-Qaida in Iraq. Images of the slain militants are shown as an unidentified voice recites the message.

The bomb, which partly detonated but malfunctioned, could have created a fireball that sprayed shrapnel that killed pedestrians in the immediate vicinity, top NYPD spokesman Paul Browne said.

Officials said the device found was crudely constructed, but Islamic militants have used propane and compressed gas for yrs to enhance the force of explosives. Those instances include the 1983 suicide attack on the U.S. Marines barracks at the Beirut airport that killed 241 U.S. service members, and the 2007 attack on the international airport in Glasgow, Scotland.

  • Napiltano has said they are "looking into" whether it is a terrorist attempt or not. If it is Muslims it will be a man made disaster, if it is a white male christian, well of course that would be a terrorist attack.

  • WTH Jesse?? A terrorist attack attempt and you find some way to bash the President?? Get a life.

WTH Wenona?? Kind of silly to tell Jesse to get a life and then not bother to answer the question. Sounds like you need to get a life imo.

BO is president, like it or not it is ultimately his responsiblity.
