What is the difference between a "blog" and a "journal"?

I know I am a traitor to my generation (heck, I would rather get a letter than an e-mail any day), but Internet lingo has never been my forte. Indeed, I am not even certain I know exactly what a blog is. I thought it was the same thing as the "Journal" section on this site, but apparently I was mistaken.

  • The term "blog" is short for "web log" - which is an internet journal. You can set privacy levels, like on cafemom journals. The journals here are just here really, a blog you can link to other places, etc. I have a blog, I do not use the journal feature here.
