when making cookies/cakes do i really need baking powder/baking soda? i never baked from scratch before. always store bought or ready to bake.

  • Yes, otherwise they will not rise.

  • Yes, you need what the recipe calls for. If you skip either of them your results won't be as desirable as if you add them - that's why they're in the recipes.

  • Definitely. Also, baking is very precise, you cant just wing it like you could with regular cooking. I go to culinary school, so i know this by experience as well :)

  • Yes, you do unless you pre-packages that have everything in there which I usually do.
