Do you think Jesus knew all along he was Gods son?

His parents, Mary and Joseph, knew of his immaculate conception. Did they ever tell Jesus when he was a child? When or did he become aware that he used to live in heaven?

  • Yes even at 12 He said "Don't you know I am about my Father's business.. He wasn't talking about his earthly father either.

  • Read The Infancy Gospel of Thomas which is banned from the Bible, you might get your answer there.

  • I think he did know. Jesus wasn't SIMPLY human, he was so much more. He never sinned... completely sinless, because he is God, of God, but in human form, God's son. Which means that he didn't say "no" to his parents, he didn't hit knowing better, he didn't lie, he didn't cheat in games, he came when he was called, he was probably the perfect child, because he would have an innate sense of what was right and wrong.

  • In the Infancy gospel of his brother James (not included in the current bible but in the apocrypha texts), Jesus knew quite early that he was special and he used it to his own advantage a LOT! Imagine how awful the terrible twos were with a god-man in the house!! In the N.T. he certainly knew by the age of 12, tho he still had the snotty attitude of a pre-teen. He didn't show much respect or compassion for his parents who had been frantically searching for him for two days. Imagine if YOU had lost your child for two whole days!!!

  • I believe that according to Scripture Jesus wasn't anointed with Holy Spirit (source of his power ) until after he was Baptized and the heavens were opened up to him
Evidently, when “the heavens were opened up” at the time of Jesus’ baptism, the memory of his prehuman existence was restored to him.—Matthew 3:13-17.

  • As far as Mary and Joseph, they were happy to let it be revealed in God's timing, although I believe they were much more focused on learning from Christ than they were focused on needing to teach him. Much like tending a garden, you do the necessary steps, while all the while waiting for the garden to wow, you.
