wiccan/pagan sisters i have a nighttime prayer question... for wiccans/pagans & christo-witches ONLY please. if you do not agree with or like witchcraft, wicca, or paganism then please dont bother answering.

There are three i guess you can call them wiccan/pagan night time prayers (kinda like the now i lay me down to sleep christian one) that i want to teach my son when hes a little older. i was wanting to know if any of you have any more that i could teach him along with the ones i already know. the ones i know are...

"Now i lay me down to rest, Goddess guard my little nest
like the wee bird in the tree, lovely Goddess care for me
above, below, and round about keep all evil spirits out
bless those i love and bless me too dearest Goddess i love you."

second one

"As i lay snuggled in my bed pillow tucked beneath my head
maiden bring me joyful dreams mother bring me peace serene
wisest crone watch over me untill the light of dawn i see."

and the last one

"now i lay me down to sleep in the twilight dark so deep
Lord and Lady in thy light keep me safe and well this night."

  • The earth is big and fat and round,
I love the sky, the sea and the ground,
I love the birds and dogs and sheep,
and all the animals that fall asleep,
I love the flowers and rocks and trees,
I love the earth, and it loves me.

  • I made my own day and night prayers for my kids.

I dont have them on this laptop but on my other computer I have them. If you would like Ill share them with you, just let me know. They are like 3 sentences long(if that) and very easy for my wee ones to say.

  • I use "Goodnight Earth" which is the one pnwmom posted. It's very easy to learn and it makes my daugher very happy with happy sleeps. :)

  • Goddess Prayers

    1. Mother of all things, watch over me tonight,
Hold me in your arms, until the morning light.

    2. Blessed be the mother goddess, by all her many names.
May she bless my family and friends.
May she bless the animals of the world,
    and all people everywhere.

    3. Diana, goddess of the moon,
    Shining in the sky above,
Bathe me in your magical light,
And protect me with your love.

  • I see the moon
    And the moon sees me.
    Goddess bless the moon
    And Goddess bless me.

It's simple but we like it.

  • I just LOVE all of these! I wish I had taught them to my children when they were little.

This is not really a nighttime prayer, but I love this old hymn that I have adapted (it is SOOO pagan, isn't it?) I think it would be great to sing with a child.

    All things bright and beautiful,
    all creatures great and small,
    all things wise and wonderful:
    the Goddess made them all.

    Each little flower that opens,
    each little bird that sings,
    She made their glowing colors,
    and made their tiny wings.

    The purple-headed mountains,
    the river running by,
    the sunset and the morning
    that brightens up the sky.
The cold wind in the winter,
    the pleasant summer sun,
the ripe fruits in the garden:
    She made them every one.
She gave us eyes to see them,
and lips that we might tell

  • aargh... I don't know what I hit that posted that before I was done....

She gave us eyes to see them,
and lips that we might tell,
    how great is the Goddess
    who made all things well.

Answer by FemRising at 4:43 PM on May. 5, 2010

  • Here is my nighttime one....
    Blessed Lord and Lady~

Help me sleep safe through this night
Let me dream peacefully with love and light
Thank you for all you give me, and
help me be the best I can be!

  • These are two I found while putting together my BOS. I happen to like them.

    Be God with Me

Be the eye of God betwixt me and each eye,
The purpose of God betwixt me and each purpose,
The hand of God betwixt me and each hand,
The shield of God betwixt me and each shield,
The desire of God betwixt me and each desire,
The bridle of God betwixt me and each bridle,
And no mouth can curse me.
