When did your child/children start walking?

My son is 11 months old and isn't walking yet---he'll take a few steps here and there but still crawls everywhere he goes.

When did your baby start walking?

  • both of mine were really early walkers, my oldest was 10 months, my youngest was 9 1/2 months. My friends son did not take his first steps until 14 months. I wouldn't start worrying quite yet he is still young.

  • 11 and 12 months. In both cases, one day they were just determined to stand up, and take a step! I had "walked" with them holding their arms for about 2 weeks prior...then all of a sudden...

  • My son starting walking right after he turned 8 months old. They say that crawling is good for the brain that it helps you understand math better =)

  • The oldest was 15.5 months, second was 11 months, third was 12 months. I know a little girl that started walking at 9 months.

All kids are different. I would not worry about your LO not walking yet. He at least takes steps and knows the basics, my oldest was 14 months before he was at where your LO is.

  • My first two started walking at 13/14 months and it was definitely after 12 months. However at 12 months they were doing the standing, take a step, fall directly to butt or teeter over so I had to catch them.

If you would like to encourage your baby to walk, you can buy him a push toy or see how he does with pushing laundry basket.
