How much did your kids' beds cost?

It's time for a new bed for ds, most likely a twin size. I'm wondering what others have spent or would spend. Do you think $700 is realistic (for the bed and mattress) or should I plan to spend more?

  • We just spent 400 on a basic twin, with a warranty. Included in the 400 was a stain proof cover that you put on the bed that fits like a fitted sheet. We just bought a metal frame for now, as we don't have that much money to spend on a nice headboard right now for our DD.

  • The frame was about $600 and the mattress another $200. We went for a really nice frame that will last for years to come, he'll still be sleeping in it when he comes to visit with his wife and kids some day hopefully.

  • We were shopping for the bed for Kiwi and was looking at different ones, we had our eye on the metal frame, but hadn't decided, so we told the salesperson we wanted to think about it for a bit, and turned to walk a little piece away to discuss it, and he just called out that they would take half off the price of the mattress if we were interested in getting them both that day, so we got the $100 mattress for $50. Funny thing is, were were going to get it for the $100, we were just going to decide when. We took the money we saved and took Kiwi to pick out sheets (Tinkerbell), and pillowcases (also Tinkerbell).

  • Hole mackerel. I could never spend that much for a child's bed. So far every bed we've had has been free (crib, toddler, bunks, full) other than the mattresses. We're about to buy our first bed - bunks for our 2 youngest plus a mattress - grand total won't be much more than $300 and it'll all be brand new - our other kids mattresses were $85 on sale and more comfy than my own. Their beds have all been awesome too.

  • We bought a used frame at a GARAGE SALE for $20; and then new mattress for $80. We bought both kids beds the same day; so it cost us $200 for us to get our kids some twin beds (That's 2 beds for $200). There's nothing wrong with buying a use BED FRAME; of course I wouldn't use a used mattress.

  • Where do y'all find new mattresses for $80, $85, etc.?!?! Like at a furniture store, mattress store, JCPenney, etc? I'd love to find a good one that cheap! The cheapest I've seen here is $250.
