leash training?

We have a Great Dane that just turned 1 last month and are having a hard time with her relieving herself if she is on a leash. She is fine if she is in the yard running free, but being spring it is turning into a mud bowl so I would prefer to just have her walked instead of being in the yard getting so muddy everyday (my house needs a break from the mud too) Any suggestions?

  • Keep her walking. Walking should encourage her to go, and you can't always time when she might need to, either. So, as long as she isn't having accidents in the house, she'll figure it out soon enough!

  • Walk her first thing in the morning and if you can until she does her job, then about 1/2 hour after she has eaten and keep this routine and she'll figure it out. The key is to keep with it. GL

  • Try keeping the same route also that way she'll recognize where she has gone and left her scent.
