Question about WIC food list...

What kinda of beans can you buy canned?
it says Canned,water,pack,14 to 16 oz can...
Can you give me a brand example :/

  • Doesn't it give the option for dried? Dried are better. They taste better and have less sodium.

  • I've never been able to get dried beans to come out right. I use beans in chili, as refried beans in lots of mexican dishes, or just baked on tortillas with cheese as tostadas (my kids call them mexican pizza), or in various rice and bean dishes (Mexican style, Carribean style, various African styles). My favorites for their flavor and versitility are black beans and kidney beans.

  • We are only allowed to get the dried beans on our list.But as far as the brand goes it is usually store brand.

  • you should have received a little card with your WIC showing what brands are OK. otherwise, look at the store for the WIC Approved signs beside the items.

  • I have looked for the little signs lol.that's why im asking.Safeway does not have ANY WIC item labeled.So i have this book but it doesn't tell you the brand on some items.
