Can I go on a diet while nursing? Will the milk be less nutritious?

I'm dying to lose weight, but 'm still nursing my 15 mo. Any tips?

  • you can change your diet- try cutting out ALL refined sugars, white flour, potatoes, etc. All of the simple carbohydrates. Eat plenty of fresh, raw fruits & veggies, only whole grains, and lots of water.
If you do not have a exercise routine, make one- even if it is only a couple mile walk 3-4 days a week. Get moving, eat well, stay hydrated, and the weight WILL come off.

  • Just be careful because your body will take what it needs for the baby... so the person who will suffer will be you not baby.

  • You only have to take in 500 calories per day to nurse...so put yourself on a 2500 cal diet. Just make sure that every calorie is nutritious

  • As long as you're eating healthy and drinking plenty of fluids you should be fine.

  • Weight Watchers. Perfectly safe, gives you extra points if you're nursing.
