Which is better, bar soap or no soap?

For washing hands?
If you were to go into a public restroom and the only type of soap that was available was a bar of soap sitting on the sink, which would be better? To go ahead and use the soap to wash your hands or just rinse off with plain water?
I imagine there are so many germs on the bar soap but would the soap kill off the germs on it and its no problem? lol
I'm a bit of a germaphobe.

  • It would depend if it was a skanky place and dirty, or if it was nicer and clean. But that's why I too keep sanitizer handy, for the just-in-case moments.

  • I would use the bar of soap. The germs will wash off the bar of soap under water.

  • My boss refuses to buy hand soap, just bar soap. It's disgusting! We work in a nursing home and the bathroom is shared by staff and residents. Not only can we get the residents sick, they can get us sick too! I always use hand sanitizer and then go to the kitchen to wash my hands.
