Have you had success lining pots with coffee filters?

I read someplace to do this so soil doesn't spill out when watering plants. But some of mine (they are all seedlings in very tiny pots, so I trimmed the coffee filters to fit) have begun getting mold or fungus around the edges.

  • do you mean to prevent soil from coming out of the drain hole in the bottom of the pot? you just cover the hole with a rock or piece of broken pot that is slightly bigger than the hole (on the inside, before you put the dirt and the plant in). never heard about a coffee filter.... that would just break down over time so i don't really see how that would work out too well
