  • My son was holding his bottle at about 5 months. But he did everything early. I'm not really sure.

  • My son did not once hold his bottle. My daughter was holding hers by 6 months. Every child is very different.

  • My son never held his own either, in fact, the more I tried to show him, the more he backed off.. he's still kind of a "King" at 2-1/2 lol!!

  • Holding her own bottle is not a milestone, and it's ok if she never does it. My oldest daughter never held her own bottle, but moved straight to a cup with no problem at 12 months (she was walking at 8 1/2 months, so it was definitely not a developmental delay). My twins both started holding their own bottles around 11 months, but they were drinking from cups on their own by 7 or 8 months. It would have been more convenient for me if they had held their own bottles sooner, but they wanted to be treated like babies just a bit longer; looking back I'm glad I had those extra months of cuddling while giving them bottles.

  • some just don't feel the need or want to. At 7 months I would not be worried. All children are different my son waited until about 9 months to even try then he did it fine. My daughter started around 8 months.

  • some babies are just lazy, or spoiled, or they want to play with everything thats around them. my dd started holding around 5 months but sometimes wouldn't b/c there was some kind of toy close by, so I would have to prop up the bottle...but now she's 8 and knows that she can hold it with one hand and do stuff with the other..remember every baby develops differently, like my baby isn't crawling and shes 8 months but she can say da'da and ma'ma..so she developed faster it that section...good luck and congrats on your little baby
