SAHMs I know this is personal so please answer anon.....

I am wondering about becoming a stay at home mom. My husband makes about $20 an hour, which around her in our small town is pretty good income. But I make $15 an hour right now so obviously if I quit my job we take a major cut back. So to you SAHMs how much does your husband make an hour and how do you make it without a second income??

  • We own our own business and our yearly gross income is about $162,000. If I were to go back to work, i wouldnt make much prob min. wage so i would barely make enough to pay for a sitter. Not worth it to us.

  • My DH makes 17.75 an hour, and we make it just fine. Of course, all 3 of our cars are paid off, so that's one less worry. We cut back where we can (no movie channels, etc) and we don't go out to eat a lot.

  • My DH makes $15 an hour and I work a little from home and bring in about $500 a month. At times it gets rough but we manage. Don't get to do a lot away from the house I'll tell ya that! lol

  • My hubby makes $36.00 an hour for 40 hours. Anything he works past that is time and a half ($54.00).

  • My DH makes $16/hour. We live modestly & frugally. Books, video games & DVDs come from the library for free. I buy in bulk & prepare meals in bulk, too, to save on food costs & time. I make my own cleaners, including laundry detergent. We grow a large vegetable garden & have multiple food trees, so that saves us a lot on food, too. We're not into having the "latest & greatest" toys, and can be happy with what we have as long as it works, so our cars are 16 & 9 years old, respectively, and we don't buy stuff that we don't need. We're also big into freecycling, flea markets & garage sales, which means we can get good stuff for free or almost free. There is nothing wrong with second hand stuff, y'know? When we do buy new, we're not into namebrands or fancy, just workable & practical. For vacations, we go camping all over the country. Just because we live frugally doesn't mean we live cheaply, kwim?
