Could I feed my daughter teething cookies?

She is only 6 months, but has 3 teeth already & I'm not sure if I can give her those, but my sister in law is giving her daughter, who is almost 8 months & no teeth at all, gerber biting biscuits ..

  • I wouldn't because of her age. They're a big choking hazard. I gave one to one of my kids at a year old and they choked. You could try one of those mesh feeders and put chunks of softer fruit in, even lightly steamed veggies. But at 6 months your baby should just barely be starting on solids.

  • My oldest son choked on a Gerber teething cookie. It broke off in his throat. I never used them again.

  • Those things are so HARD they are a choking hazard if I ever saw one. If you can find "baby mum mums" they're rice cookies that melt when they touch the babies spit you could use those or get whole grain bread, toast it cut off the crust and cut the bread into strips then let it get a little stale and you can let the baby gum those.

  • I give my 6mo son these things called rice rusks. They basically melt in his mouth and they're just right for him to hold himself. They're all natural, too which is great.

  • They are horribly messy and scared the everliving crap out of me twice (even kids without teeth can break off a chokable size piece). I strongly urge you to skip those, they're utterly unnecessary.
