$250 - $300 a month for all groceries, personal care items, paper products, and pet food, BUT we also raise a huge garden every year and can or freeze the vegetables and fruits which saves us a LOT of money. I cook a lot from scratch, including snacks. We have meatless meals two nights a week, like bean burritos, crock pot beans, vegetable stir fry over lentils, bean salad or soup, vegetarian lasagna. Our other meals are not usually centered around meat as the main entree, we eat things like pizza, wet burritos, spaghetti, stews, stir fry, a few casseroles. Burgers are good, but I can get 10 - 12 sloppy joes out of a pound of ground meat vs. 3 to 4 burgers. It's all about learning how to get the most from your food purchases.
