  • $200-250 a week, NOT including diapers, wipes, detergants, toilet paper (you get the idea!) The non food is an extra $200 at the grocery store once a month.

  • $250 - $300 a month for all groceries, personal care items, paper products, and pet food, BUT we also raise a huge garden every year and can or freeze the vegetables and fruits which saves us a LOT of money. I cook a lot from scratch, including snacks. We have meatless meals two nights a week, like bean burritos, crock pot beans, vegetable stir fry over lentils, bean salad or soup, vegetarian lasagna. Our other meals are not usually centered around meat as the main entree, we eat things like pizza, wet burritos, spaghetti, stews, stir fry, a few casseroles. Burgers are good, but I can get 10 - 12 sloppy joes out of a pound of ground meat vs. 3 to 4 burgers. It's all about learning how to get the most from your food purchases.

  • $400-500 a week JUST for food. We have 7 children, 2 adults and with 4 teens (17, 16, 15 and 13), 2 tweens (12 and 10) & a social 8yo we have a lot of extra kids over so we need snacks and drinks for them and extra food for the various extra mouths at the table most meal times. In the summer our budget goes way up because we have a lot of bbq's and bonfires w/extra people just eboug every weekend.
