what do i tell them?

i have a midwife appt today and i'm going to be giving the office my birth plan. i wrote on it that i want one of the midwives to deliver my baby at the hospital because my doc is a know it all and i just don't want her there. i know they are going to ask why i want a midwife and not a doctor so what are some good reasons i can give them?

  • tell them the truth, that you believe a midwife is more apt to believe what you have to say about your body and feelings rather than the doctor who has a schedule to keep and lawsuits to watch out for. you want a more natural birth, without the pressure of a doctor saying its time to induce or have a c section because he is so afraid of timing and laws.

  • See if one of these sites can give you some phrases to use. I had both my kids in the hospital with midwives. I even had a few medical issues that they dealt with beautifully... I was even induced both times. The care was so personal, it was awesome - I wouldn't have changed a thing! ;o)

You like midwifery style of pregnancy care better, Midwives tend to have much lower intervention rates - http://pregnancy.about.com/od/choosingapractitioner/a/choosemidwives.htm
