Who counts in months past 2 years old?

I'll never understand how or why people refer to their children's ages in month, past 2 years old. I was reading in a post where someone referred to her child as 31 months. WTH? Why not just say "about 2 1/2" or "almost 3" or "he just turned 2 1/2."

  • yeah i can't stand when people do that because i have to think hard to know what age their kid is. I spoke to someone who told me thier kid was 32 and 1/2 months so it took me like a min to figure out what that childs age is. when i hear months i think of a baby so not a two year old

  • When people ask how old my daughter is, I say "Oh, she'll be two in June". It's a little embarrasing to say 22 months old! I use months on cafemom, but not in public.

  • When talking about developemental milestones, I refer to months until about the age of 3.
When just talking on here or to my friends, I stop using months at about 18 months.

  • Well, it makes sense if it's a "is this normal" question it helps the reader to know if he is 24 months or 34. But to just refer to them that way as their age, I don't do it! Lol
