Did you see the space shuttle Atlantis take off?

I just watched it and I think the older I get the more in owe I am of things like this. At 19 miles above the earth it was already going 2500 miles an hour. This is the last tour for the Atlantis. When I was a little girl in school, we watched these take offs on tv in the classroom. It still amazes me.

  • I didn't but I saw Columbia take off once, I think it was the 5th of July 1995. We were across the water and parked along the side of a highway, about 10 miles from the launch site. Even at that distance and in the Florida heat you could still feel the heat from the rockets. Quite the experience.
