for Moms who send a sack lunch to school with your child....

do you do a sandwich all 5 days as the entree? If so, same kinds or different?

  • Absolutely not! I always alternate between many choices and I never send the same thing more than twice a week. I will send a sandwich once a week max, wraps (my girls faves), muffins (jumbo blueberry or apple make a great twist), salad, garlic sausage with cheese and crackers, cold pizza, pizza pretzles, cheesie breadsticks with ham in the middle, bunwiches, baglewiches, and once in a while as a treat a "lunchable". I also vary the juice box flavors, fruit and snacks daily to keep it fresh and interesting. School can be tough enough without a boring lunch!

  • My mother sent bologna to school with us everyday. I can't even stand the smell of it anymore.

  • I packed a variety of different lunches for my daughter. She liked some sandwiches, but I also packed peanut butter and apples as an alternative so that she would get the protein she needed. I bought Lunchables when she was older and let her pick out what she wanted. I always included a fruit cup or fresh fruit and a thermos of milk or juice. Now that she is in high school, she packs her own lunches and usually makes healthy choices. Variety is important. I would hate to have to eat the same food for lunch every day and school food is soooo gross!!!

  • If I send a lunch with my kids on a daily basis, no, I would not send a sandwich every day. We rarely do sack lunches and my kids hate sandwiches in them.

  • I send sandwiches of different kinds they love turkey pastrami, wraps of any kind, grilled chicken salad, or taco salad, chinese chicken salad, my guys all like salads, sometimes I'll send hummus with pita bread, or I'll stuff the salad into a pita. I also pack fresh fruit, picnic foods like potato salad, pasta salad, 3 bean salad, ramen noodle salad. I always send a treat like homemade cookies or a cupcake.

  • my daughter (full day kindergarten) gets a sandwich every day..except the odd time that she will take soup, or cheese n crackers...i hate packin her lunches!! all she wants is peanut butter...but her school is "nut free"...so..most days she just has bread n butter..sometimes tuna, or egg salad, once a week she usually has a hot dog sandwich...she used to do ham, mayo and mustard..but not anymore..so yaa its difficult!! her school lunch involves some sort of sandwich...juice..pudding..some sort of fruit..and either a granola bar or rice krispy square

  • Why are you sending sack lunches? It is just not done in the schools around here? I am just wondering.

  • When I packed my son's lunch he got the exact same thing every day - he has autism and that's what he liked, so he knew exactly what to expect and I knew that he would eat it. I now make him get the school lunch so he HAS to get more variety, but he's able to handle things better too.
