is it safe to use sunblock and bug spray together on kids?

and which should be applied first? i read an article saying that the stuff they sell already combined is really bad for you b/c it makes your skin absorb the deet too fast. but it doesnt say anything about using the individual products together. if that makes any sense.

  • You can buy products that have both.

  • Avon sells a spray that is all in one. I have used it every year. It's called Skin so soft 2 in 1 Expedition SPF 30 and sells for $14 for 4 oz.

  • I'd probably aim for a deet free product if you can find one. You might also check and see if your pediatrician's office has a recommendation. I'd also make sure that the article you read is from a reliable source with valid testing (there's a lot of random info out there).

  • You want to put the sunscreen on at least 30 minutes before sun exposure so it will be absorbed in to the skin for the best blocking. The bug spray can be sprayed on at any time.
