  • For the same reason oil companies in countries like Venezuela, Malaysia, Vietnam, China, Canada, Brazil and Mexico have been drilling offshore near the US for decades?

If you're trying to make a point, OP, why not provide more information or links?

  • Ditto Lorikeet, took the words right out of my mouth

The BP group is the largest oil and gas producer and one of the largest gasoline retailers in the United States. We are the largest non-US company on the New York Stock Exchange. Our BP Alternative Energy business has an operations centre in Houston, and we also have solar manufacturing facilities in the USA.
BP also has business activity in Africa, Austrailia,New Zeland, Asia, Canada, Europe and S.America
BP owns Amoco, Arco, Castrol, Aral. am/pm and Wild Bean Cafe.

All of these provide jobs to millions of Americans. Do you have a problem with that?

Actually so can human hair; they were asking salon owners to donate the floor clippings to be made into mats.
