Can someone explain something from the bible to me please?

OK.... if I am understanding this correctly, the bible instructs women to not cut their hair. But then also says you're not to braid it, that braiding it is vain and attention seeking basically.

This does not seem practical to me.... some assistance understanding this please?

  • The time that was written... the instructions like this were put in place so you would not be like the pagans. God wanted a people set apart and gave these guidelines but man could not follow and fulfill so He sent His Son to be the fulfillment and with Him residing inside believers you are continually coveredby the blood of the lamb and no longer need to follow the law but grace.

  • Some is in the NT too, and that is why, say, mennonites don't do that stuff. It was because then it was like a prostitute or pagan to do that. It is saying that women need to LOOK LIKE WOMEN and they need to dress and act as Christians, not as something else.

  • Then I'd like to know why you all refer back to Leviticus when complaining about homosexuality being a 'sin'?????????

  • Because its also in the new testament as well... thread all through the bible God speaks of marriage between a man and a woman to be sacred. There is so much about marriage and honoring one another... there is nothing in the bible that speaks of homosexuality being good.

    ********
But only one place in the OT that it is expressly outlined as 'bad'. Saying marriage is a good thing is not the same as saying homosexuality is a bad thing. Who says same-sex couples can't honor one another?

  • You arent understanding the sacredness of the man and the woman. The union between both. You cannot ever ever ever have the same with same sex... its just not there no matter how much you try to explain it away.

Yeah? so? If you tell your husband not to yell at you and you only say it once, does that make your statement to your husband invalid, because you only said it once? You told him and that's all that matters is that you told him, he shouldnt turn around and yell at you and then say, hey but honey, you only told me not to yell at you once, so i thought it would be ok.

  • The union between both

I firmly believe that love and union between people is a matter of the heart, not what lies between the legs.
