What would you think of someone who named their baby...

Strawberry or Firefly? DH are considering these names for our Baby girl but I am concerned about what people will think. The middle name will be Elisabeth.

  • I think it would be interesting. It would definitely give your child a conversation starter as she got older. And if she didn't like it, she could always go off her middle name. When I was pregnant with Kiwi, it was around the same time Gweneth Paltrow named her daughter Apple, and we started joking about having our kid with a fruit name and started calling her Kiwi as a joke. It stuck, and we call her Kiwi more than her real name, it's even the name she went by in school and with family.

  • Whoa, that's kind of crazy, no offense. I just picture those names on a resume, or someone named Dr. Firefly Jones. That just doesn't sound right, does it? People really are discriminated against based on names. I work at a professional, trade college and the students are constantly being told what does and doesn't look good on a resume and I can just imagine that those names will be rejected in a pile of 50 applicants.

  • Why are you concerned what people think? Who cares, its your daughter. Personally, I like firefly better just because I can't see myself calling an adult strawberry-but I love the creativity. I would think you were bold (in a good way), and creative.

  • I think it is a lil extreme, why not use that as her nickname?

  • We considered Strawberry lol! But we ended up going with a more "normal" name for her futures sake. The middle name is another story ;)

  • I don't know, just roll my eyes and think they were weird. Elisabeth is my daughter's middles name. I love that.
