  • I love cotton sun dresses. I can't even count how many I have. They are so comfortable and super cute.

  • Agree with the second poster. Lots of bermudas from old navy and nice basic tees from there.

  • Not so much what you choose, but how you accessorize and care for them.

Faded, ratty, snagged and stained clothes look ratty, slobby and careless. Even a great watch and a new bag won't help.

Iron your clothes, or hang them as soon as they're dry to avoid the rumpled look that you can't fix with a beautiful manicure. Discard (or donate) ratty clothes so you can't wear them --that means everything that doesn't fit well, is stained, ragged, discoloured or has missing pieces or wrecked elastic. Make it all go away.

Pillage the local thrift stores and consignment shops to build a better wardrobe--only perfect condition items, though.

Then accessorize: a bracelet, fresh lip gloss, a manicure, a belt, heels, a modern necklace, hats, even gloves, scarves or a selection of great rings. A good wardrobe of plain, flattering and well-kept clothes with awesome accessories costs the least and can be updated the most easily.

  • I totally agree with the cotton sundresses thing.

I'll just throw in, I find it most comfy when they go past my knees though so I don't feel concerned about crossing my legs all the time.

When you've got young kids (babies and toddler age) you want to be able to squat, or get down on the ground, with them without worrying about who you're flashing.
