short cycle, is this going to be harder?

I started charting on day 8 of my cycle this month, and I'm afraid I either am not ovulating or I'm ovulating before day 8. If I ovulate while I'm on my period, will this make it harder for me to get pregnant? (My husband is not the type to be grossed out by sex on my period, so I'm talking about more physiological issues). We're not trying yet, but I'm trying to understand my fertility better before we start, because we are hoping to catch a window of a few months.

  • It could be. The big concern is the luteal phase between ovulation and the shedding of the uterine lining. If it's not long enough, the egg cannot implant.
