What part of the "triad" are you?

I was wondering what experiences bring moms to this particular section of Cafemom. How has your family been changed by adoption? Or has it?

  • I am a reunited adoptee. My experience hasn't changed my family in anyway, except to make it WAY bigger then it already was! LOL

  • I am an adoptive mom to a boy and a girl. Adoption has changed my life by giving me the joy of being a mom, and extending my family through open adoption. I think that both adoption and motherhood have made me less selfish. I hope that I am more compassionate now that I know my children's birth mothers and have an inkling of an understanding of the pain they feel.

I come to this forum to hear from others in the triad. Sometimes I want to bounce ideas off other adoptive moms. I also benefit from hearing the thoughts of birth moms and adoptees. I want to know how I can be a better family member to my new extended family, and how to raise my kids to know that they are loved by all of us.

OP, just curious, what part of the triad are you? ;-)

  • I am an adoptee raised in an open adoption,  and now my husband and I are planning to adopt. With me being raised in a very open adoption was amazing.  Growing up I was able to see the best of adoption, my birth family and my adopted family working together to make sure I had a great life, everyone was open, honest and loving.
