If you had your membrane stripped, did it put you into labor?

I am 40 weeks (tomorrow) and at my appt today, my OB stripped my membrane. I was just wondering if you've had this done and if so how quickly did it put you into labor, if it did at all?

Thanks ladies!

  • It didn't work. I went into labor on my own at 41 weeks and 5 days.

  • I had it done twice, and it did exactly what the dr said it would do - move my due date up by a couple of days.

  • At my 38 week appt I was 3+ cm dilated and 90% effaced and babys head was very low. my dr stripped my membranes (without asking) My appt was at 2pm, I went home bounced on yoga ball for 5 minutes and my water broke at 3am that next morning. GL
