Anyone have a good sweet potato pie recipe?

My mom made the best and she passed away about 3 years ago. My husband likes very few desserts but loved her sweet potato pie. She didn't use nutmeg, but cinnamon instead. Have no idea what else she put in it. If anyone has one that they think is really good, please let me know. I would love to have it.

  • I am sure that this would make a great filling for pie: Sweet Potato Pudding
6 large sweet potatoes, peeled and quartered
    1/2 cup butter, melted
    2/3 cup dark brown sugar
    2/3 cup white sugar
    4 eggs, beaten
    2/3 cup orange juice
    2 teaspoons vanilla extract
    Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). Grease a 2 1/2 quart baking dish.
Bring a large pot of water to a boil. Add potatoes and cook until tender, about 20 minutes. Drain and mash.
In a large bowl, combine 2 cups mashed sweet potatoes, butter, brown sugar, white sugar, eggs, orange juice and vanilla until smooth. Pour into prepared dish.
Bake in preheated oven 40 minutes.
Notes: instead of the sugar and orange juice, I use ½ can of sweetened condensed milk; I add cinnamon and ginger; instead of the vanilla I use a really good dark rum. If you use rum be sure to taste it frequently to make sure that it has not spoiled

  • Sweet potato pie

    1 lg sweet potato
1 8 oz pckg cream cheese room temp.
    1/2 stick melted butter
    2 eggs
    1 tsp cinnamon
    1 tsp vanilla extract
    1/2 cup white sugar
    1/2 cup brown sugar
nutmeg to taste (we don't like nutmeg, so we leave it out. People seem to like it better like that)

Boil cut sweet potato with skin on. Let cool, when cooled peel the skin off. Mash sweet potato with mixer, add melted butter & blend, add cream cheese & blend. Add egg one by one, then vanilla & cinnamon. Pour in pie shell (or two if you have enough) and bake @ 350 for about 45 min...until a toothpick comes out clean.

    best sweet potato pie ever!

  • Orange juice!!!! My goodness, where do you guys learn to cook? Valos3942 do you have the recipe stored anywhere? There is no way I would use these recipes. I would give you my mom's but she keep hers under tight security, but it is good.

  • Use Samurai's recipe, but take out the creem cheese, and add 1 teaspoon of nutmeg. No one is mentioning the nutmeg, this will give it the flavor.
