4 1/2 month old breastfed baby...

She's nursing for less time and not always nursing on both sides anymore, she's still having enough wet diapers though. Is this common as a baby gets older?

  • Yes, they eat more efficiently as they get older.

  • My 2 1/2 month old just went from eating for an hour to eating for MAYBE 20 minutes. He has alwys only done 1 side at a time but is stii gaining weight well and lots of wet diapers so I'm guessing is ok. =) sorry 4 typos NAK

  • op- what about nursing fewer times in a day? she's sleeping longer at night (and snoring in my lap as we speak lol) so she's nursing an average of 7 times a day, sometimes 8.

  • By this age my daughter was still nursing on both sides, but I would stop her at about 10 mins and switch her to the other side. She only ate for about 10 mins on each side.
