what time do you put your child to bed?

my son is 3, and for a while i was putting him to bed at 10, just because he gets a 3hr nap every day, and even going to bed that late he still wakes up around 8. but a lot of people are completely shocked when i tell them what time he goes to bed, because they're children go to bed around 7 or 8. so, just recently i started just giving him a one hour nap, then put him to bed at 9. do you think this is too late?

  • It doesn't matter what time you put him down as long as he gets his 10 hours, or whatever it is. If you have nowhere to go the next morning, it's fine.

  • Oh, sorry, but to answer the question, my kids go to bed at 8:30, but when school gets out this week, it'll change to closer to 9:30 or 10. My kids are 10 and 5.

  • Our son has recently started skipping most naps so that he gets in bed early.....by 7-9pm, depending on when he woke up.

If it's a day he naps, he's up til midnight. Sometimes I can get him to bed by 10:30 or 11:30, just depends on the day.

  • Think ahead. It's important for your son to not only get enough sleep, but also be on a schedule that works for preschool or kindergarten. The sooner that is in place, the easier your mornings will be when he does start school. http://www.filedby.com/author/linda_griffin/1127154/

  • Right now we're at 8 pm but sometimes they're not asleep until 8:30... in the winter it was more like lights out by 7:30 and sometimes a bit earlier. They are 20 months old and 3 years old. Right now they're sleeping until 7 am and napping every day.

  • Paige was in head start so I made her got to bed by 8. She will be 4 in july. Even though I put her to bed at 8 she didn't fall asleep till 10:30 or 11 and was still up by 1 and then back to sleep at 2 and then was up by 5. She has ADHD we found out and now has to take some meds to help her sleep. Now I give her 1/4 a pill at 4 to start calming her down and then I give her a pill at 7 and she is asleep by 8 and sleeps till about 6:30 in the morning.

  • our twins have always had a bed time of 7-8 Usually 7-730. They are up at 6 am and take an 1 1/2-2 hour nap. If we put them to bed at 9 or 10 they are still up at 6 doesn't matter. if it is a special day or we are staying somewhere else they will go to bed about 8.

  • My 3 and 4 year old DD's go to bed at about 8:30 ... I think most important thing is to just make sure they are getting the full 10 to 11 hours
