Do you trust a sitter with your child/children?

I am so nervous especially with all you read. I keep telling my self not to read stuff like that, but it is everywhere.

Baby drawns while baby sitter smokes marijuani and have sex with her girlfriend. Baby sitter who is step dad beats baby to death.

  • I never trusted anyone with my kids except my parents, I can see why you are freaking out!

  • No, I don't leave my kids with many people. Gonna answer this one anon, lol. I even have slight heartattacks if my husbands family watches them, because they tend to be off somewhere and not really paying attention like I do.

  • I trust the baby sitters that I use. If I don't trust them then I don't leave my kids with them.

  • I trust my kids with babysitters. I am only a phone call away and never gone very long. If I see anything amiss I won't use that babysitter again. My kids are also older and able to tell me if they don't like their sitter. I used to let my neighbors watch them when they were little.

  • If i dont trust someone I dont let them watch my kids. I have about 6 people that i fully trust my with my kids. They are all family or are like family to me. I wouldnt let anyone watch my kids if I haven known them for a while.

  • Of course, someone doesn't have to be related to be good with kids, just like being related doesn't automatically make someone safe. That doesn't mean hand your kid off to the first random stranger that asks.

  • if i dont know the person really well or am not related to them my dd wont be staying in their care. better safe than sorry.

  • Um...yes

She's at the sitter's right now.

It's kind of necessary when you have to work for a living.

  • mama, no need to get confrontational. Even us lazy SAHM's require babysitters at times. I doubt she was including licensed or researched daycares here. I am sure she was just referring to strangers for nights out and stuff.
