What is your opinion on Candy Cigarettes??

Do you let your child have them or do you think they encourage smoking? Are they okay when they aren't in the cigarette like packaging?

Personally, I don't mind them. I feel if I teach my child the right thing a candy won't influence them.

  • I think it is a candy stick.. I mean now you get them at the dollar store in these little boxes with two in them. I think our kids are a lot smarter than we make them out to be and if we teach them right candy, t.v. etc. will not influence them.

  • Do they still make those? I know they had them when I was a kid, but I've only seen "candy sticks" now. I remember the Popeye candy cigarettes, but now they're not labled as cigarettes anymore, nor do they have the red dot on one end. I totally pretended to smoke when I was a kid, but never did as a teen or adult, so I don't know if there is a connection. I think that if mom or dad smoke it will have more impact than if they have a candy cigarette.

  • I liked them as a kid but things are a lot different today. IMO there is no NEED to give them to my child when there are plenty of other choices of candy. BTw she doesn't eat candy now anyway. lol

  • I always liked the gum ones that you could get a "puff" of "smoke" out of... lol

And no, I don't think they encourage smoking... That's like saying because your kids have a race car track that they are at a higher risk of driving crazy... Come on...

  • I didn't think they made these anymore. I used to like them when I was a kid. I smoke now but I don't think my habit has anything to do with my old love for candy cigarettes. I probably wouldn't buy them for my child, though. There are all sorts of different types of candy to choose from so I would probably tell my children no if they wanted them. I think smoking is terrible and even though i don't believe they create a smoker I still think,, "what if."

Me too and agreed! My whole family smoked but I chose not to. Kind of an easy decision when you see your dad die of cancer (unrelated to smoking but still)
